It's a pleasure to have you. The grandson of a skilled woodworker, I've always been amazed by my grandfather's craftsmanship. Throughout my life I've deeply enjoyed spending time in his shop, watching him create. I've observed his process, paying careful attention to the thought and detail that goes into every movement. Although I've learned a great deal from him over the years, it wasn't until recently that I took to the lathe myself.
As a writer, poet, and voracious reader, I've always been passionate about the written word. So I started turning pens, spending hours experimenting with different designs, woods, textures, techniques, and finishes in order to create the ultimate writing instruments. I strive to produce the perfect combination of form and function, blending practicality with beauty to create a writing experience like no other. I practiced diligently until I could confidently call myself a pen-turner. Since then, I've expanded my repertoire of woodworking abilities to craft an array of products, but pen-turning remains my true joy.
Today I am proud to bring you Old Hurley Pen Shoppe. Born out of a family tradition, my shop crafts artisanal writing instruments for you and your loved ones to enjoy for years to come.
